This is a drawing I made for my boyfriend's dad for Christmas. He said he wanted something with a cat on it, so I've decided to make it a picture of a cat. In order to make it, I created a custom brush that scatters triangles, with a bunch of dynamics for things like scatter amount and hue. I think it looks pretty neat! Also, kinda cyberpunkish vibes, though that's not intentional :P
Workstages
First off, a simple outline of a cat. Done using the symmerty tool, since it's a straight-on view and it won't be the final linework.
Adding basic shading for the cat using the special brush. The brush would change color according to the speed with which the pen was moving. Mainly set to show cold blues when slow, and warm yellows when fast, which makes intuitive sense.
Drawing the outline with the triangle brush.
Making the outlines finer by using a smaller and darker triangle brush.
Adding shadow-like effect around the outlines to emphasize them further. This would end up being refined in the end, since I did go a bit overboard here :p
Filling in the background with a nice gradient-like triangle confetti.
Refining the background by scattering smaller triangles around it.
After tweaking and reducing the excess shadowing around the outlines, we have the final drawing!
